Most of the times these classes have different levels of English and different level of communication ability even in their own language. Doing something you can all enjoy is great, in most cases you shouldn't worry to much about anything like grammar or that. I always play a game with my special ed classes, we might play a board game and count in English or draw pictures.

When we draw pictures we take turns. I say one thing, a simple word in English they know, and then they have to draw it. And then they go. Its fun, simple, and the students love drawing.

You know whats fun for sports flashcards, and it makes the students remember it so much better is to take pictures of someof your students doing the gestures. Or, if you have coaches at your school ask them to do a funny pose in their sports wear and use those as your flashcards. Since the students mostly know what sports their friends and teachers like it also helps them to remember them easier by association.

Hello stopallie. I don't have a full lesson for you or anything, but since this is your first time I do have some tips. I teach large groups like this every now and then and I try to use a lot of games and songs. Singing head, shoulders, knees and toes or teaching them how to play rock, paper, scissors in English is always good for a few minutes of time.

Remember to keep the English easy, and find some good flashcards. Good luck!
